If you love anything with lace, this is one trend that you wouldn’t want to miss. It’s none other than, broderie anglaise or ‘English embroidery’. The essence of this embroidery is all in its cutwork and lacework, which is then designed into intricate floral motifs. Broderie anglaise embodies a sort of romantic femininity and it is the epitome of summer dressing.
This embroidery is traditionally prominent in the form of whiteworks. Although it looks best on whites, broderie anglaise garments is available in a rainbow of colours these days. I would say that pastels looks especially great coupled with broderie anglaise details. Not to mention, pastels are always in for summer days (way to nail two trends in one outfit!).
This white skirt is part of the H&M Conscious Collection, which showcases apparels made from recycled/sustainably-sourced materials. It’s not only universally flattering, but it has such a dreamy appeal to it. The double-layer embroidered trimmings adds just the right amount of volume and movement to the skirt. It’s not available online but they may still have it in store. For those who likes co-ords, there’s also a matching top, which I’ve linked below.
I decided to go with a pristine all-white outfit for a change. A blazer shirt and a skirt make for an interesting pairing. It looks chic yet laid back at the same time. This outfit combination can be tricky to pull off, but it looks oh-so-cool once you do. Bonus style tip: wear the blazer over the skirt with the hem peeking out for an ultra stylish vibe, and cinch the waist with a belt as you see fit.
Gold jewellery matches perfectly with an all-white ensemble. Stack up necklaces of varying length for a layered look, hook on a gold pearl earrings and you are good to go!
