Making an unexpected comeback on the Spring/Summer 2019 runway is none other than the tie-dye print. Keen on jumping on the tie-dye bandwagon?
Fret not if you’re not a fan of overly vibrant T-shirts that reminds you of an art project. This 60s throwback trend is given a high-fashion revamp in 2019. The modern take on these colourfully stained garments is a whole lot sophisticated and considerably toned-down, that you can definitely work into your personal style.
The key to styling any tie-dye clothing is to be uniquely you and let your individuality shine. After all, the pattern is unique in itself. Keeping in mind not to forgo your personal aesthetic while embracing this trend, pick out a tie-dye print in a style that you would wear. You can expect bursts of colours on all forms imaginable. Think, jumpsuits, sweatshirts and even denim.
One that is fitting with my aesthetic is this Tie-Dye Print Dress from Mango. The subtle swirl of cool tones on a satin canvas not only gives off a romantic vibe but also adds a touch of luxurious feel to it. It sort of resembles cotton candy clouds. And the intricate lace trimmings just makes the dress that much more special. All in all, it’s a statement-making piece.
A dress like this speaks for itself. So, minimal styling goes a long way. Since the dress is of straight design, adding a belt would help to accentuate the waist.
For a layered look, falling back to neutral pairings is a great start when easing into this trend. You can either wear a fitted long sleeve top underneath, a cozy sweatshirt over it, or just throw on a jacket over it, just as I did here. If you want to take it a step further and incorporate more colours to your outfit, always start off with colours in the same palette as the tie-dye. Accessories wise, slip on a pair of heels for an overall sleek look, or go for a casual sneakers as a contrast.
