Sticking with the basic black, white and neutrals is effortless. You definitely can’t go wrong with any of these colours. However, don’t you feel like adding a splash of colour to your outfit every now and then? There are all sorts of tried-and-true colour combination that might seem unlikely at first glance but are actually amazing together. Think, pink and red, pale blue and yellow, maroon and blue, and so on.

Recently, I tried a colour combination that is quite uncommon and surprisingly, both colours complement each other pretty well. I’m talking about mustard and army green. Perfect for the Autumn season, right? And it can’t be any other shade of yellow or green. Sure, you could try olive green, but I find that army green matches better with mustard as compared to olive green. (Trust me, I tried.)

2018 sees the move away from millennial pink and towards what is now dubbed Gen-Z yellow. I was hesitant for the longest time about how this colour would look on me until I spontaneously bought this ruffle skirt from Zalora. Though it’s not a bright hue, it is a variation of yellow. If you’re unsure about bright yellow, there’s always different shades that you can experiment with, like pastel and mustard. It’s all about your personal preference.

The usual me would have paired it with a simple black top since the ruffle skirt has a strong colour and is a statement piece in itself. However, I decided to try something bold and went with the Camo Print Mesh Top from Monki. Muted green shades is another colour palette that you want to keep a lookout on for the season. I actually got my inspiration from Twenty One Pilots’ latest album, Trench. If you see the album covers and watch the music videos, you’ll notice how I came about this colour combination. *subtly promoting their album*

To complement the mustard colour, I completed the outfit with neutral accessories. I’m amazed by the fact that I’m not wearing anything black in this outfit, with the exception of my irreplaceable watch. I wasn’t a fan of nuetrals, but both the shoes and bag have won my favour. I picked out this taupe Pointed D’orsay Flats from Zalora as well along with the skirt. Nude flats, and especially if they’re pointed, are a great way to give the visual of lengthen legs sans the pain and discomfort that comes with wearing heels.

Also, I’m currently loving the Tilda Crossbody Bag in Brown from Livlola. Another local brand that I discovered a few months back and that did not disappoint. It’s made of vegan leather and the quality is exceptional. The design is really unique that I had to get it, even though they don’t have it in black. I’ve included a discount code below, so you can shop at Livlola too.
