Can’t spell badass without black.
Do you find yourself falling back to black attire all the time? If that’s a “yes”, then this post is just for you. Most of us know the irresistible charm of the colour black. Its aesthetic, its slimming effect, and not to forget, the phrase that goes “black is the colour of my soul” (not true btw, your soul is more than that).
Looking at the amount of black clothes in one’s wardrobe, naturally, an all-black outfit is a given. So, how do you take your wardrobe’s trustiest basics and transform it into a fashion magazines approved outfit? It’s all about the details and textures. This creates depth and interest to an otherwise plain ensemble.
No matter what your style preference is, you can definitely express it by playing with textures, and even the tiniest details. Think ruffles and lace for the girly girls, embellishments and leather for an edgy vibe, sequins and velvet for a touch of glam, and so on. Or you can mix up different styles for more fun. Just make sure that there’s not too much going on. If either your top or bottom has quite a few interesting details, keep the other piece free of clashing details but one that’s textured.
This textured peasant blouse definitely has a lot going on, with its sheer balloon sleeves, lace up details and even tassels. The patent leather skirt is rather toned down with a single zipper detail. The pairing of these two makes for a perfectly balanced all-back outfit. I’m all for the contrast of a feminine yet edgy look. Add an interesting accessory should you want to break up the all-black silhouette. I went with a monochrome snake effect cross body bag.
