I always say this and I will say it again: my hair is my crowning glory. However, contrary to what most people see, I actually have naturally thin, fine hair (believe it or not). Even with my natural curls, my tresses still seem pretty flat and lifeless. Achieving the illusion of thicker strands when you have fine hair is definitely not impossible, nor does it cost a fortune. Recently, I’ve switched to volumizing hair products and I’m here to share them with you.

My hair is my crowning glory.

Currently, I’m using the Marc Anthony True Professional Volumizing Collagen Bamboo Sulfate Free Shampoo (more details here) along with its Conditioner (more details here). It leaves my hair feeling soft, shiny and weightless. Most importantly, I can clearly see a significant difference in the fullness of my hair after each wash. Hence, using these alone is sufficient. Another plus point about these products is that it’s free from the harsh chemicals (sulfates, SLS, parabens, phthalates) that may otherwise damage your hair in the process. Available at Watsons Malaysia.

Something that I’ve used previously is the Hask Chia Seed Oil range (more details here). I’ve tried out the Chia Seed Oil Volumizing Shampoo (more details here) as well as the Chia Seed Oil Volumizing Conditioner (more details here). The fact these products are free from harmful chemicals won me over from the get-go. Also, the touches of lilac colour makes for a pretty packaging. This range may not add as much volume as compared to the Marc Anthony range, but if you’re looking for a minimal boost, this will do. Available at Watsons Malaysia.

Can’t leave out my must have product: the Gold Nine Professional Volumizing Mousse. The reasons that I love this particular product very much is not only does it create texture and volume, it also gives definition to my curls (2 in 1!) The volume you get depends on the amount of mousse you apply and you want to make sure to have an even application to avoid stiff strands. I purchased this at a local salon at an affordable price. You can find them on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada and Shopee.

Bonus Trick!

Whenever I’m getting ready to head out, I always put my hair up in a half top knot, or a top knot sometimes. This works in adding volume to my roots.

Of course, there are various volumizing products in the market. These are just some of the products that works for me. Try them out and see what works for you. Do remember that, at the end of the day, coveting voluminous locks or not, it’s all about personal preference.

With love,
